IN celebration of some of the extraordinary women that come from the Eastern Cape, Standard Bank has launched the Dreamchaser video series on social media.
Gary Markson, Client Coverage Head, Eastern Cape said Dreamchaser seeks to inspire young women to rise above the adversities and challenges that they face daily by showcasing successful women.
Already featured are female executives from Standard Bank who, despite challenging backgrounds, have become successful. These include Leigh-Anne de Witt, Busie Nxazonke and Ivy Strydom.
The campaign also follows the story of Francine Zana, a cleaning woman who now runs her own company, Exclusive Hospitality Concepts. Celebrity chef Siba Mtongana and influencer Lelwar Smith were also recently featured.
“Young women in the Eastern Cape face a variety of socioeconomic issues that may dim their light. It’s important to be able to draw inspiration to succeed,” Markson said.
“Standard Bank is passionate about youth empowerment and seeing women make real progress in society. We hope that the Dreamchaser campaign sparks something in the youth to get up and make things happen for themselves.”
He added that over the years the bank has spearheaded various campaigns that focused not only on women but also on youth from their earliest years to their schooling and post-schooling years.
“Empowering all youth has always been part of our blueprint at Standard Bank because we realise that if they move forward, we move forward as a country. The need to provide young women with opportunities and access to quality education is an imperative now, and we are committed to helping achieve this.”
