Cool choice: New boss for vehicle aircon component maker

MAHLE Behr South Africa, a specialist component manufacturer of air conditioning and engine cooling products for both passenger and commercial vehicles, has announced the appointment of Alex Holmes (pictured) as its new Managing Director.
Holmes brings 23 years of experience in the automotive industry to the position, including serving as a Non-executive Director for the Durban Automotive Cluster (DAC), and Chairperson for Automotive Supply Chain Competitiveness Industry (ASCCI).
As a qualified Mechanical Engineer, he has served as MAHLE’s Commercial Director for the last nine years.
The company is the local subsidiary of MAHLE, in Stuttgart Germany. The South African division has been part of Behr since 1999 and has plants in Durban and Port Elizabeth.
The final products currently manufactured include components for engine cooling modules, radiators, charge air coolers, condensers, and evaporators in Durban, and HVAC and aluminium and stainless-steel tubes in PE.
